Help and FAQ
Short, practical answers. If your question is not here, see the support page.
How do I install Kisab?
Download the signed APK from the Download page, open the file, and allow Android to install from unknown sources for this one app. Kisab is not on the Play Store yet, so the APK is the official way to install.
How do I update Kisab?
If your build has the private update channel enabled, open More → About → Check for updates and follow the prompts. You can also install a newer APK over the old one; a signed upgrade keeps your farm data. Make a backup before updating.
Does Kisab need internet?
No. Daily work — recording, khata, hisab, calculators — runs fully offline. Internet is only used if you choose to check for updates, and only for the HTTPS update channel and the verified APK download.
Does my farm data work offline?
Yes. All farm data is stored on your device in the app's private storage. There is no server copy, no account, and no cloud dependency.
How do I back up and restore?
Open More → Backup / Restore → Export backup to save a versioned backup file through Android's document picker. To restore, choose Import/Restore and select that file. Keep backups somewhere safe, off the phone too.
How do I change the language?
Open More → Settings → Language and choose Nepali or English, or follow the device language. The app is fully translated in both.
How do I change the text size?
Open More → Settings → Appearance → Text size. The normal default is 24sp and it scales from 14sp to 36sp for comfortable large text.
Can I use more than one farm?
Yes. Use the farm switcher in the app bar or More → Farms to create, switch, rename, and manage multiple farms. Each farm keeps its own data and currency.
Play Protect warns about this app. Is it safe?
Kisab is signed with the production release key and distributed directly, which is why Play Protect treats it as an unknown app. Install only the official APK from this site or GitHub Releases, keep Play Protect on, and optionally verify the SHA-256 checksum. Do not disable Play Protect permanently.
Why do I need 'install from unknown sources'?
Android requires this permission for any app installed outside the Play Store. Allow it only for the Kisab file you are installing, then keep it off for everything else.
An update failed. What do I do?
Download the latest signed APK from this site and install it over the existing Kisab. Your farm data is preserved by a signed in-place install. If install is blocked, check that install-from-unknown-sources is allowed for this app and that you are not trying to downgrade to an older version.
What happens when a pilot build expires?
Pilot builds may carry a time limit. When one expires, Kisab lets you keep viewing and backing up your data, but asks you to install a newer version before recording more. Your farm data stays on the device through the update.
